Queen’s Herald May 2022
Highlights
– May 19th Zoom meeting – Our Zoom meeting this month will feature a program by John Moe that is all about propagating roses from cuttings. John will go through all the steps needed to make this process work & answer all your questions.
If you follow John’s suggestions, it is really easy and a lot of fun. By the end of the summer you could have some new rose plants for your garden!
- Is there a rose in your garden that you really love and would like to have one or two more plants?
- Maybe you inherited a plant from someone in your family and you want to ensure that you can pass it on to another. Is this possible and legal? The details are on pg 1.
– Learn more about Ron’s recent wild vacation – (though the word journey may be a more
apt description) to Kathmandu, Nepal. He went to meet a friend there for a two week
stay. More fascinating details are on pg 1.
Keith wrote a nice article to impart a better understanding of some of the functions of the Point Defiance Rose Gardens Advisory Committee, which is comprised of Steve Herbig- Lead Park Horticulturist and TRS members: Barbara & Bruce Lind, Jo Martin and Keith Ripley. It’s on pg 3.
– We need clerks for the upcoming Rose Show on Saturday, June 25. Jo wrote a detailed article about being a clerk at the show & those duties on pg 4. This is a great way to get an understanding of show culture, whether you exhibit or not. Contact details are on pg 6.
– Next weekend we will return with our annual in-person Rose Sale on the 21st. Central Co-op on 46th st. and Pearl in Tacoma near Pt Defiance has a nice covered area outside the store and is allowing us to have our sale there on that saturday from 9am to 1pm unless we sell out before 1!! CASH & CARRY . . . The full story is on pg 5 with colored images of some of the available roses on pages 7 & 8.
– Included on pg 5 is a list of the upcoming ROSE SHOWS 2022. Mark those dates . . .
