Pacific NW District Events

As a member of TRS, you have access to many tools that can directly help you in your rose garden from over 100 experienced CRs of the PNW District

  • Monthly online newsletter Northwest Rosarian with articles and updates from a regional perspective. This important link is here.
  • A formidable list of rose culture articles. The link is here.
  • A speakers bureau of rose experts who cover subjects to assist rose society meeting planners That link is here.

In addition, there are usually in-person events where we can share, learn, and get ideas about other rose gardens and techniques. In 2020, it’s a little different.

The Pacific Northwest District of the American Rose Society consists of 22 cooperating rose societies in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, western Montana and British Columbia, Canada. The resources are impressive.

At the end of October each year we come together for 3 days of classes, seminars, and specific ARS instruction at a central location for everyone in the district. Typically, it includes:

  • An Arrangement Workshop starts us off on Friday
  • Then a technical class on Saturday with AM classes
  • A keynote speaker on Saturday night after PM classes
  • Our District Awards presentation

This list gathers articles about Rose Gardens, Care and Culture, and CR Programs. Also included are selected articles from the Northwest Rosarian, the District Bulletin, with Judy Heath as editor.

Here is a list of the Rose Shows throughout the District and their projected dates. 2020 has been rough on them all.

Typically each summer, we gather together and hire a bus for the day and visit 3 District gardens. If we’re lucky and the gardens are close together, we add another. It’s a fun day for all the folks who start early, walk a lot, and share their enthusiasm for roses. We’re still optimistic about 2021 . .

ARS National Conferences

If you become a member of the ARS, you gain many benefits that can directly help you in your rose garden. Although many are local to the PNW District, many other benefits are derived from a national Rosarian perspective.

Each year, the largest gathering we have, is the very large national conference in a major U.S. city. 2021 may still be different due to Covid-19. Watch this space . .

We are very fortunate to have Rose.org as a resource available to all of us interested in rose culture.

Continuing education, tips on growing roses, and the great people who make up this large organization are publicly available. And it’s very colorful too . .

Here is a list of the many awards for service to ARS. Many are in rose shows, some are individual society awards, and some are for lifetime and excellence in the work for “the rose.”

This is the announcement page for the upcoming 2021 National Convention in Milwaukee WI during Sept. 10 -14, 2021.
