May Meeting

May 15, 2008

Speaker: Frank Gatto

of Raft Island Roses

You won’t want to miss our May meeting. Frank Gatto of Raft Island Roses will present a program showing pictures of all the newest roses. What could be better? He will also talk about Rosefest – his annual weekend celebration of roses sponsored by the Tacoma Rose Society.

Rosefest is June 14/15 at Raft Island Roses. The day is filled with free rose talks and a garden tour or two. Raft Island Roses has the largest selection of roses anywhere along with plenty of perennials. It will be filled with blooming roses in June!

EARLY MEETING TIME – 7PM

CLINIC: WATERING SYSTEMS

If you can come early, we will start our evening at 7PM with a clinic on watering systems given by Bruce Lind. Plan on meeting us in the rose garden directly behind our usual meeting room. In addition, the secret, magic, fertilizing tool created by Cliff Martin will be demonstrated! It will revolutionize your fertilizing – so don’t miss it!

The Tacoma Rose Society was officially organized on March 14, 1911 in a meeting at the Tacoma Commercial Club on C Street.  The Society was incorporated under the laws of The State of Washington on May 3, 1913 and “its affairs were put into thorough business order.”  The first president of TRS was Carl Morissee.  He was succeeded by Herbert Hunt in 1913, and the society maintains a continuous list of Past Presidents to this day.
